SILWOOD PARK KARATE CLUB raises over £4500 for YOUTHLINE

Youthline were delighted to receive over £4500 from a sponsored 1 million (and 50,000) punches that Silwood Park Karate in Bracknell carried out in November 2018.

Members of Silwood Park Karate, aged from 4 years old up to 55, collectively performed 1 million (and 50,000) punches. The event took 6 hours of continuous punching with their youngest members completing at least 4000 punches whilst some of our older children and adults who took part in the full challenge completed over 20,000 punches each!  Our very own Youthline Trustee, Ben Champion attended the event adding a few more punches to their total.

Silwood Park run Karate classes for children aged from 4 upwards and also offer specialist classes for children and adults with learning difficulties or extra physical needs. The ethos of the club is to build resilience, determination and confidence in all members, for this reason Youthline were the perfect charity to raise money for. Through Karate, students constantly face challenges that they need to overcome either individually or through the support of instructors. Unlike some team sports, all students can make progress in Karate and be successful and by allowing students to be successful, they gain in confidence both at Karate and in their daily lives. With increased confidence, students are less likely to be bullied and more able to over come other challenges, be it exam pressure at school or problems in their personal lives.
